UP to 1970-Serge Adam

	...Au menu, quatre plages hypnotiques assez longues - jusqu'à 15 min -, qui invitent à la transe et à l'abandon. Et si le spectre de Miles - époque "Bitches Brew" et "On the Corner" - hante clairement cette musique gorgée de funk-jazz électrique où les traits de trompette déchirée fusent tels des rais de lumière, Serge Adam réussit à le garder à distance d'hommage en injectant une bonne dose d'électro. Soigneusement choisie, l'équipe qui l'entoure est au diapason, les claviers de Benoît Delbecq et de Pierre de Bethmann s'entremêlant de façon fusionnelle pour tisser une texture mouvante sur la rythmique obsessionnelle menée par Benjamin Henocq et Zaf Zapha. On adhère sans résistance à ce voyage psychédélique dans le temps, entre passé et futur... In concert, this visual aspect provides a happening atmosphere and accentuates the psyche side of a show which, judging by the videos, refers as much to the Mothers of Invention as to Miles Davis. Certainly this music is no longer as provocative as it was in the early seventies, but when it is played with the required ferocity and passion (as is the case here), groove-hungry fans once again feel the chills in the spine. Only four titles are in the repertoire and all are open pieces conducive to unbridled improvisations, with the trumpet of the leader at the forefront tacking above the burning keyboards on a heady rhythm.
